St. Francis band and choir in Disneyland

Thursday, February 14, 2008
On Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008 88 music students and 8 faculty members headed west for a musical experience in California. The students were under the direction of Mr. Bob Mamminga, band director and Mrs. Nina Schroeder, choral director. Four music classes performed during the trip: The Music Ensemble performed at the Santa Monica Pier; the Jazz Ensemble performed at Disney's California Adventure; the Concert Choir performed on the Carnation Plaza stage in Disneyland; and the Spartan Marching Band performed in Disney's Celebration Parade. The students participated in workshops with a Disney professional musician/composer who worked with them on music and then recorded the music with Disney animation. The students also had opportunites to see and explore the Santa Monica Pier, Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Sony Studies (where they saw actors Adam Sandler and Laurence Fishbourne), and Universal Theme Park. The trip was hugely successful and fun for all involved.
